Exhibition "COLLECTING JEANS THINGS"
The exhibition "Collecting Jeans Things" at the Levi-Strauss Museum in Buttenheim is dedicated to extraordinary everyday objects made from the material denim. Items made from jean fabric, objects covered with denim, or products featuring jean motifs are showcased – from quirky to familiar. Between fashion, design, pop culture, and everyday culture, the exhibits tell stories about trends, identity, consumption, and societal developments. For over 20 years, the artist Katharina Hohmann and the designer Katharina Tietze, along with supporters from around the world, have been collecting these special "jeans things". The collection, which now comprises more than 450 objects, offers diverse perspectives on art, design, and our everyday culture. In the exhibition, the objects are thematically re-staged: Unusual arrangements emerge based on concepts such as drinking, reading, or bathing, supplemented by installations and video collages. This makes it visible how versatile jeans remain as a cultural symbol to this day. Info: 09545 442602 More information

Exhibition: "choose your color in between"
The exhibition series "Baroque meets Modern" will continue in 2026 at Weissenstein Castle and presents Christiane Toewe, an artist who impressively connects material, light, and space. Under the title "choose your color in between", Toewe transforms the historic rooms into a sensory experience of light, color, and porcelain. Her latest works, created in China, exhibit an extraordinary visual presence: dense, pasty glazes reflect ambient light and create a shifting play of colors that changes with each movement of the observer. The focus is not on the obvious, but on what lies in between. Toewe explores fields of tension such as loud and quiet, above and below, or good and evil – intentionally directing attention to those transitions where perception and emotion arise. The exhibition thus becomes an invitation to engage with subtle nuances and discover new perspectives. Particularly impressive is the interplay of material and light: porcelain, which appears both fragile and powerful, reveals its full aesthetic depth only through targeted lighting. Spaces change, atmospheres shift – and with them the perception of the visitors. Especially in dialogue with the baroque architecture of Weissenstein Castle, an extraordinary tension arises: the past and present, opulence and reduction, materiality and light engage in an intense exchange, making the exhibition an immersive experience. Exhibition "E.T.A. Hoffmann Dance Hall"
In the anniversary year of the multitalent, the "E.T.A. Hoffmann Dance Hall" at the Historical Museum showcases unique artworks from Hoffmann's fantastic world. Under the motto "Boundaries of the Real", 1960s pop art meets works by winners of the Berganza Prize from the Bamberg Art Association or the famous "Apfelweibla". A Hoffmann-esque event series featuring readings, live music, lectures, workshops, and film screenings also celebrates the artist's complexity between fantasy and reality. Exhibition "Fire Color Light"
The artistic technique of enameling combines glass and metal: glass powder is fired onto metal at high temperatures to create bright, color-intensive surfaces. The artist Nora Kovats has created an imaginary magic garden from her works in enamel, ink, and precious metals. As an intervention in the painting gallery of the Historical Museum, enameled objects, contemporary jewelry, installations, and watercolors are displayed. The exhibition opens a magical, botanically inspired imagery - between nature observation and fantasy, material exploration and poetic narrative. Info: 0951 87-1140 More information

Exhibition "Jewish Life in Bamberg"
The conflict-ridden coexistence with the Christian majority over the centuries, expulsions, and pogroms, as well as the deep impact of National Socialism, have led to the material and spiritual culture of the Bamberg Jews being preserved only in fragments. The exhibition seeks to make the remaining traces visible and to represent their connections in history. Scientific findings from archaeology and historical research have been prepared in a vivid manner for presentation and made accessible to a wide audience. Exhibits from all areas of life provide insight into the social and personal lives of the Jewish minority. History is made tangible, among other things, through the diary of the Jewish girl Erika Löbl, which offers a starting point for a diverse engagement with National Socialism, anti-Semitism, racism, religion, and the topics of flight and asylum from different perspectives. The exhibition "Jewish Life in Bamberg" is part of the permanent exhibition at the Historical Museum Bamberg. Info: 0951 87-1140Event link

Exhibition "There Was Light!"
Until today, original lamps, wiring, light switches, and fuse panels have been preserved in the Gardener and Hacker Museum, which Thomas Kauer installed around 1908/10. Kauer, the son of a Bamberg gardener family, trained as an electrical installer at Groß & Bohrer in Bamberg around 1900. While many gardener households still illuminated their rooms with gas lamps or candles at that time, the Kauer family was already among the early users of modern electric lighting. Over the years, Thomas Kauer repeatedly maintained and improved the system without replacing the original installation. The cabinet exhibition tells the story of electrification through these exceptionally well-preserved technical artifacts and shows how the new technology entered the everyday life of Bamberg gardening families.
