Workshop Theater - CHAPEAU CLAQUE E.V. | Tickets & Program

The Workshop Theater Chapeau Claque e.V. in Bamberg is more than just a venue. It represents a cultural offering that appeals to children, teenagers, and adults alike, as it is not just performed but experienced together. The association has been working since 1990 as a recognized provider of independent youth welfare, implementing social and cultural projects throughout the Bamberg region and has firmly established itself in Bamberg's cultural life with theater, theater education, and mobile formats. The official website also makes it clear that ticket bookings are still possible, even if the homepage currently indicates technical problems. This blend of long-standing tradition, familial closeness, and practical accessibility is what makes this place appealing. Program, Schedule, and Tickets

Those looking for the current schedule will find relevant information very directly at Chapeau Claque. The official site refers to the schedule and tickets section and currently lists several offerings, including theater holiday courses as well as the productions The NOhorn, Merlin, Arthur and the Sword in the Stone, and Kunigunde. This is particularly convenient for families, as the search does not go through many intermediate stations but leads directly to the bookable content. Also noticeable is the thematic line: Chapeau Claque consciously chooses its pieces according to its own description to address themes such as helpfulness, friendship, and tolerance, but without a didactic tone. This creates a program that remains emotionally accessible while also having substance. ([chapeau-claque-bamberg.de](https://chapeau-claque-bamberg.de/))

The official children's theater page complements this picture with a very personal perspective. It states, in essence, that the first generation of viewers often comes with their own children today, and not infrequently, grandparents, friends, and acquaintances are also present. This shows how strongly the theater has established itself over the years as a meeting point for intergenerational visits. At the same time, the page emphasizes that good children's theater must also captivate adults. This is precisely an important SEO topic for this place: not just a classic children's program, but a shared cultural experience that combines family bonding and joy in theater. So, those looking for programs, tickets, or current performances are often actually searching for a straightforward option for a family outing with cultural added value. Address, Directions, and Workshop Theater on Grafensteinstraße

For practical orientation, the address is particularly important. The event location field on the theater education page names the Workshop Theater Chapeau Claque e.V. at Grafensteinstraße 16 in Bamberg. The association itself lists Grafensteinstraße 18 as its location on several pages. This separation is useful for visitors: those coming for a performance or a holiday offering orient themselves to the venue; those wishing to contact the association or administration pay attention to the association's address and office hours. On the homepage, the association states that the administration can be reached Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 12:00. This very concrete structure speaks for a practically organized cultural place that not only offers events but also remains easily approachable. ([chapeau-claque-bamberg.de](https://chapeau-claque-bamberg.de/theaterpaedagogik/))

Regarding directions and parking: the verified official pages do not indicate a dedicated parking garage or parking space. A public seating plan or a fixed capacity specification for the Workshop Theater is also not mentioned there. Therefore, for travel planning, the reliable address is the most important anchor point, while the specific search for parking must be carried out more through downtown planning. This is not a weakness but rather typical for smaller, personally managed cultural places that focus their communication on the essentials. For seekers, this clarity is relevant: Workshop Theater, Grafensteinstraße 16, Bamberg, along with the association contacts at Grafensteinstraße 18. Often, that is all that is needed for initial orientation. ([chapeau-claque-bamberg.de](https://chapeau-claque-bamberg.de/theaterpaedagogik/))

Children's Theater for Families in Bamberg

The heart of Chapeau Claque remains the children's theater. Bamberg Tourism describes the place as a theater for children that presents pieces from Astrid Lindgren to Otfried Preußler and performs in its own small theater house during the winter months, while in the summer, performances are held outdoors in the heart of the old town. This combination is particularly strong for the search intent because it brings together several needs: a fixed house, seasonal peculiarities, and a cultural experience in the urban space. Additionally, the theater is mentioned as a cultural award winner of the city of Bamberg and the Free State of Bavaria; it was also awarded for the best production at the Bavarian Theater Days. Such facts give the location a credible profile that goes far beyond just being an event venue. ([bamberg.info](https://www.bamberg.info/poi/kinder-_und_jugendtheater_chap-9547/))

On its own website, the association emphasizes that it has been a stable institution in Bamberg's cultural life for almost 35 years and that good stories must also engage adults. This is precisely why children's theater here does not function as a pure niche product but as a generational format. The selection of materials, the mix of well-known children's book characters and original adaptations, as well as the deliberately playful but not superficial dramaturgy create a credible profile. Particularly important is also the current program work: the pages refer to ongoing performances and the possibility of purchasing theater vouchers. So, those looking for children's theater, family programs, or a special outing in Bamberg will find a place with recognition value and social resonance here. ([chapeau-claque-bamberg.de](https://chapeau-claque-bamberg.de/kindertheater/))

Theater Education and Mobile Theater

A second important theme is theater education. The official page describes holiday offerings for children aged 6 to 12, where they playfully develop their own theater piece. The children rehearse, try out roles, and present a performance on stage at the end. This form of work makes it clear that Chapeau Claque understands theater not only as a performance but as a learning and experiential space. Additionally, there are productions that address educational and preventive themes. This is particularly evident in the piece ONLY A SWEATER?, which was developed for children and teenagers between 9 and 13 years and was created in collaboration with the Bamberg Health Department, the Shoulder Closure Working Group, and the Wildfang prevention program. This is a strong signal for the relevance of the house in the educational sector. ([chapeau-claque-bamberg.de](https://chapeau-claque-bamberg.de/theaterpaedagogik/))

The mobile theater is also firmly part of the profile. Chapeau Claque comes with guest performances and theater educational pieces to communities and schools and provides posters as well as text and image material for local advertising. For mobile productions, the association specifies concrete technical and spatial guidelines: large productions require a performance area of about 8 by 6 by 3 meters and are designed for up to 200 spectators, while small productions need about 6 by 4 by 3 meters and are intended for up to 100 spectators. This is not only practical but also SEO-relevant, as many users search for bookable formats for schools, institutions, or cultural projects. Chapeau Claque answers this demand with a clearly structured, real, and deployable solution. ([chapeau-claque-bamberg.de](https://chapeau-claque-bamberg.de/spielmobil/))

History, Awards, and Significance for Bamberg

The history of the association gives depth and credibility to the place. According to the association's history, Chapeau Claque was founded in 1990; the first children's culture days followed in 1991, the opening of new rooms with the first major Christmas production Peter Pan in 1995, and the reopening of the Workshop Theater on Grafensteinstraße with Cat in the Hat in 2019. Numerous milestones lie in between: recognition as an independent provider of youth welfare, the cultural promotion award of the city of Bamberg, awards for the best children's theater production, the citizen culture prize of the Bavarian State Parliament, the Berganza Prize, and further honors. This chronicle shows a continuity that has become rare in the cultural sector and thus creates trust. ([chapeau-claque-bamberg.de](https://chapeau-claque-bamberg.de/der-verein/historie/))

The current perception also remains vibrant. The tourism page emphasizes the connection to authors such as Paul Maar and Cornelia Funke, while the association's page refers to current productions and awards, including the victory with Just One Day at the 20th Children's Theater Festival in Amberg. Additionally, there is a look ahead to the years 2025 and 2026, in which the association will be 35 years old according to history. For the search intent, this means: those looking for Workshop Theater, Chapeau Claque e.V., Theater Chapeau Claque, or Children's Theater Bamberg are not searching for just any stage, but for a grown, multiple award-winning cultural house with a clear educational signature and strong regional anchoring. This combination is the actual core of the location. ([bamberg.info](https://www.bamberg.info/poi/kinder-_und_jugendtheater_chap-9547/))

Wonderful little theater for small and big kids. We were there for the first time and were thrilled by the performance of "Tiger & Bear." A small stage, three actors, but the stories were presented with such passion and variety that it was an experience for everyone. Now we are even more excited for "the little ghost" at Altenburg.
