What a delightful hotel this is. It used to be an old mill and still has elements of its history. It is close to the centre of town and has its own parking lot (for a small fee). Our refurbished double room above the restaurant faced the street but was very quiet. It was spacious with enough room for two large suitcases, had a desk and small lounge. It was simply but adequately appointed with plenty of power points, storage etc and a wardrobe and hanging space. The beds were very comfortable and the heating was excellent, with the option to open a window. The staff were very friendly and check-in was easy. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and very fresh. But the real surprise was the restaurant. In my humble opinion, it is worthy of a Michelin star. I had the best cream of asparagus soup I have ever had. Followed by sea bream fillets perfectly cooked with a red rice accompaniment, this was a special meal. My wife had the Frankish dish of boiled beef, root vegetables with a potato dumpling. Delicious! Excellent hotel and great value!

The hotel is in a great location for the town center and local attractions. The rooms are on the small side, but usable. Breakfast was excellent. Our shower was hard to use. The height off the floor made it easy to slip when leaving. The position of the taps/faucet also made the space very small. There needs to be a no smoking rule in outside sitting areas. It is unpleasant to sit in secondary smoke. Provide a smoking area well away from other areas.

Pretty basic hotel. No lift, no aircon, very noisy if windows are left open because of the heat since the rooms overlook the bar's outdoors tables. Convenient for the centre.

Normally I yawn when I hear about discovering a ‘real gem’, but this time, I really have. The hotel is perched between the edge of the historical center and the edge of a fast running stream. Views of elegant antiquity out each window along with whimsical touches throughout. The food carries this theme; traditional, Franconian food with a fusion flair. The staff were not only friendly with the clients, they were friends amongst themselves. This positive energy is what you feel when you walk in the door or when you’re sitting in the discreetly zen massage chair on the stair landing. The ‘gem’ is due to its value and quality that was proven by the locals’ patronage.
