Poor Pay and Problematic Management My experience with Chapeau Claque was unfortunately very negative. The artists are treated poorly: payments are slow, sometimes only after multiple requests. Actors are tied to tours even if they don't want them or the shows are poorly attended – sometimes entire venues are booked, but there are very few people in the audience. Freelance artists who try to pursue other career paths face harsh treatment, warnings, and even threats – especially if these problems are made public. The question is: Who would stay long-term – poorly paid actors on poorly organized tours or a season of regular theater engagements with reliable pay?

Today was our first time at Chapeau Claque and we were absolutely thrilled! The play (Tiger and Bear) was fantastic, brilliantly acted, and lovingly staged. The welcome was incredibly friendly, and they were very attentive to the little ones. We'll definitely be back! Chapeau!
