AVALON Bayreuth | Events & Tickets

AVALON Bayreuth is the specialized counseling center for people who have been affected by sexual violence or have experienced it, as well as for relatives and professionals from education, youth work, and healthcare. The location at Casselmannstraße 15 in 95444 Bayreuth is centrally located; access is via the small side street Zweigstraße and the courtyard. In addition to confidential personal counseling, AVALON offers low-threshold online counseling via chat, email, phone, and video chat. In addition to individual case assistance, the institution focuses on strong preventive work in the form of projects, courses, training, and informational evenings for various target groups. For those interested specifically in 'events' or 'tickets': AVALON does indeed hold appointments such as courses and webinars – but without a traditional ticketing system. What matters is the secure access to help, information, and the strengthening of protective factors. This overview provides information on current offerings, explains registration, describes how to get there, and shows how AVALON is networked and what makes the work on-site special.

Events and Prevention Offers at AVALON Bayreuth

AVALON understands prevention as a central task to recognize risks early, create safe spaces, and strengthen competencies. Accordingly, the program of offerings is diverse and is announced and updated throughout the year. A regularly requested offering is the weekend course 'Self-Assertion Course for Women'. The prevention page of the counseling center explicitly names the next date: 10.10. and 11.10.2025. Such courses convey practical strategies for self-assertion and self-efficacy – whether in everyday situations, in a professional context, or when reflecting on past experiences of violence. Additionally, AVALON addresses parents with informational evenings: Under titles such as 'How do we protect our children from sexual violence', basic principles are conveyed, warning signs explained, and support offers presented. Many of these parent evenings take place online, which facilitates participation and lowers barriers. For educational institutions and providers of child and youth work, AVALON has developed a whole range of projects. These include school projects such as 'Courage is Good' or 'Courage is Good – Digital', which convey age-appropriate knowledge about boundaries, consent, and ways to seek help. Additionally, there are formats such as 'Hello! Who am I?' (Sexual education in the elementary sector for 4 to 6-year-olds) or 'Is that still normal?' regarding the handling of expressions of childhood sexuality. For open child and youth work, 'Human, be happy!' serves as a component against sexual violence in leisure contexts. Other preventive content addresses children's rights, resilience promotion, media literacy, and digital violence. AVALON thinks prevention inclusively and addresses not only girls and women: The team also offers programs for men* with experiences of sexual violence in childhood and youth in the Bayreuth/Kulmbach area. Crucial for interested parties is: Current courses and events are published on the website in the 'Counseling & Prevention' section (subsection 'Prevention') as well as under 'Current'. Those who want to stay informed about new dates can also subscribe to the counseling center's newsletter. Since the offerings often take place in cooperation with schools, providers, or municipalities, individual formats may also be announced directly through these partner channels. In case of uncertainties, a quick inquiry by phone or email is recommended – the team typically responds promptly and assists in selecting the appropriate offer.

Tickets, Registration, and Participation

At AVALON, access to help is the focus – not ticket sales. Therefore, there is no traditional 'ticket system', no seating plans, and no box office. Instead, the registration procedures for each course, webinar, or training are described in the respective announcement. In practice, this means: Interested parties usually register by phone at 0921 512525, by email (info@avalon-bayreuth.de), or via contact forms on the website. For online formats – such as parent evenings or webinars – a registration link is often provided, which sends participation information after registration. For formats specifically aimed at professionals (e.g., training for developing preventive structures in clubs or institutions), the allocation of places often occurs in consultation with the respective institution. Some offerings are designed as school projects and are scheduled directly through the schools; here, teachers or school social workers coordinate participation. From experience, it is important to register early to secure places, as courses like the 'Self-Assertion Course for Women' are typically in high demand. For organizational questions – such as regarding accessibility, required materials, or technical requirements for online formats – the team provides individual support. Those who want to orient themselves first can request a callback without obligation; according to association information, a callback occurs on weekdays within 24 hours if the answering machine is activated initially. In general, details about participation requirements and any special features can be found in the respective event description on the website. This keeps registration transparent and low-threshold, without deterring visitors with unnecessary hurdles like ticket accounts or platform constraints. For initiatives, clubs, and businesses that desire a tailored prevention offer, AVALON also provides the opportunity to arrange lectures, in-house training, or consultations for teams individually – also bureaucratically unencumbered through the specified contact channels.

Directions and Parking: Casselmannstraße 15 in Bayreuth

The counseling center is located at Casselmannstraße 15, 95444 Bayreuth – directly adjacent to the employment agency. Those arriving on foot or by bike can find the entrance most easily by turning from Casselmannstraße into the small side street Zweigstraße and following the access through the courtyard. For drivers, there are several easily accessible parking options: The parking spaces at the employment agency across from the facility are recommended, as well as the parking garage of the Rotmain-Center within walking distance. The location is deliberately chosen so that arrival and departure can be discreet – an aspect that is important to many affected individuals. AVALON is also well connected to public transport: The nearest stop is 'Berliner Platz'; from there, the counseling center is reachable on foot. Those using navigation should enter 'Casselmannstraße 15, Bayreuth' as the destination and pay attention to the signage via Zweigstraße as they approach, so that access through the courtyard can be easily found. Tip for appointments in the late afternoon: The parking garage in the Rotmain-Center usually still offers sufficient capacity at that time, while the parking spaces at the employment agency may be more occupied during office hours. Since AVALON also offers online counseling, conversations do not necessarily have to take place on-site – those with travel obstacles can easily switch to phone, video, or chat counseling. For personal meetings, however, a brief phone coordination is recommended to avoid waiting times and clarify any accessibility notes. Thanks to the central location, appointments can be combined with other routes in the city center; nevertheless, discreet and secure accessibility remains the top priority.

Consultation, Online Counseling, and Target Groups

AVALON advises people of all genders and ages on a variety of topics related to sexual violence – from acute incidents to experiences in childhood and youth. The institution makes transparent which focal points it covers: sexual violence and rape, sexual harassment (including in the workplace), mental and physical health after experiences of violence, digital violence, and – in special contexts – ritual violence. A significant component is trauma counseling, which stabilizes in everyday life, strengthens resources, and shows pathways to further therapeutic care. Typical concerns range from initial orientation after an incident to support during reporting, investigation, and court processes, to questions of self-care in family and work life. Relatives, partners, and professionals also receive support – for example, when they are confronted with suspected cases or want to develop preventive structures in their organizations. AVALON works client-centered and biased, meaning the well-being of the client is the priority. In addition to in-person counseling, there is a wide online offering: counseling via email, chat, phone, and video chat in a data-secure framework. This is particularly helpful when spatial distance, time constraints, or distressing triggers make personal appearances difficult. For the first contact, a call to 0921 512525 or a brief email to info@avalon-bayreuth.de is usually sufficient; if the answering machine is on, a callback occurs within 24 hours during regular office hours, according to association information. The institution's standards include believing the statements of clients, respecting wishes, and jointly developing action options. Institutions – clubs, schools, associations – can also contact AVALON if they wish for lectures, training, or consultations on protection concepts. This bridges the gap between individual help and structural prevention.

Safety, Confidentiality, and Accessibility

Those seeking support need reliable conditions. AVALON describes clear principles: The counseling work is biased and client-centered; it aims to create a protected framework in which those affected find time and peace for stabilization and processing. Confidentiality is a central principle – sensitive information is only shared with consent. For many seekers, it is also important that the first contact is uncomplicated and occurs with as few barriers as possible. Therefore, AVALON offers several ways: in person on-site, by phone, in writing via email, and digitally via chat and video. Those who wish to remain anonymous can initially conduct orientation conversations without naming themselves; for follow-up appointments, it is always agreed upon which data is necessary. Regarding accessibility, the association makes important notes transparent: The rooms at Casselmannstraße are not suitable for all wheelchairs; seekers with mobility restrictions should clarify this by phone in advance. Additionally, AVALON offers outreach services, so that counseling can take place at alternative, more accessible locations if needed. The team provides counseling in German; other languages can be organized upon prior request on a case-by-case basis. For acute emergencies: AVALON is a counseling center and not an emergency service – in danger, always call the direct emergency number (110) or seek appropriate medical help. This also belongs to transparent safety: clear indications of when which agency is responsible, and the assurance that those seeking help will be reliably referred to suitable partners in the help system. In the combination of professionally founded trauma counseling, sensitive conversation management, and concrete protection and prevention components, a framework is created that strengthens people – both individually and in the community.

About AVALON: Network and Special Features

As a specialized counseling center against sexual violence, AVALON is regionally networked in Bayreuth and Kulmbach and visible in the nationwide help system. The counseling center is listed with the umbrella organization bff Women Against Violence e. V. – a quality feature that facilitates access through the nationwide search and makes minimum standards for accessibility, service description, and target groups more transparent. In the region, AVALON cooperates with municipal and independent providers, schools, youth services, health services, and prevention agencies; in thematic networks, the counseling center supports campaigns against cyber grooming, strengthens media literacy projects, and participates in events for families. Support from foundations such as the Rainer Markgraf Foundation, which supports projects in prevention work, is also visible. A special feature of the work is the simultaneous focus on individual counseling and structural prevention: AVALON supports those affected in a biased and resource-oriented manner but also addresses institutions that need protection concepts – such as clubs or associations where boundary violations are suspected. This dual focus – individual cases and systems – ensures that individual experiences become learning loops for safe structures. Through online counseling, AVALON also reaches people who face barriers when seeking a counseling center – whether due to fear, shame, lack of mobility, or caregiving responsibilities. Additionally, there is a clear, easily findable description of how to get to the counseling center, including information on parking options and public transport; thus, in-person counseling remains easily accessible. Those who wish to learn more or support the work can find team and project presentations, newsletter information, and transparency details on the website. This connects AVALON effective help in acute cases, long-term stabilization, and smart prevention work – supported by a network that is locally anchored and professionally broad-based.

I only went there once and had a very bad experience with one person. I strongly advise them to continue their education on the topic of trauma and to develop a certain sensitivity! This person demanded constant eye contact from me (an absolute no-go for a trauma patient) and was unable to absorb my emotions arising from their constant and probing questioning. Ergo: I was re-traumatized and left this institution disturbed.
