Aufseßhöflein | Wedding & Registry Office Bamberg

The Aufseßhöflein is one of those Bamberg houses that unusually harmonizes history, style, and use. The baroque pleasure palace in the northern district of Bamberg was built between 1723 and 1728, fell into disrepair for many decades, and has shone again since a comprehensive restoration. Today, it is a special place for civil ceremonies, concerts, and selected events. Visitors to the estate do not experience just any event venue, but a listed gem with a private atmosphere, carefully restored substance, and a clear focus on festive, musical, and emotional moments. The Aufseßhöflein is only open during specific events, which further emphasizes the exclusivity of the location. ([aufsesshoeflein.de](https://www.aufsesshoeflein.de/))

Wedding at Aufseßhöflein: Registry Office, Garden Hall, and Special Moments

For many people, the search for Aufseßhöflein begins with exactly one topic: wedding. And indeed, the garden hall of the house is an official wedding venue of the city of Bamberg. The historical backdrop is suitable for civil marriages, and the location is explicitly used as an external office of the registry office. According to the city of Bamberg, Thursdays are reserved as wedding days; additionally, there are other dates available on certain Saturdays throughout the year. This mix of clearly regulated official appointments and private ambiance is what makes the place appealing. The room is not large but deliberately kept intimate, which is particularly important to many couples. With 40 seats, the garden hall is more suitable for personal celebrations than for large gatherings, and therein lies a significant part of its charm. The Aufseßhöflein appeals to couples seeking a wedding with historical character but who do not want to forgo a fixed, planable civil structure. The official note that details must be coordinated with the Fiedler family and that a usage contract is required also shows that the event is organized individually and carefully. For the framework after the ceremony, champagne receptions are also possible on the extensive estate, allowing the ceremony and celebration to be stylishly combined. Especially when searching for “aufseßhöflein bamberg wedding” or “aufseßhöflein registry office,” it is important to know that it is not just about beautiful photos, but about real, reliable processes. The Bamberg registry office organizes the marriage, provides the registrar, and specifies the framework conditions; the wedding venue itself provides the atmospheric added value. On the website of Aufseßhöflein, the wedding is staged as something very personal: The pleasure or summer palace is a synonym for the life of two lovers and can serve as both a grand and intimate setting for the vow. It fits that the house does not feel like a standardized event location but rather like a well-maintained private refuge with historical character. Those who marry here are not looking for mass, but for atmosphere, not for routine, but for individuality. The official description also emphasizes that floral decorations or champagne receptions can be coordinated in advance. This interplay of historical backdrop, personal contact, and clearly regulated registry office framework makes Aufseßhöflein so desirable for weddings. Directions, Address, and Parking at Aufseßhöflein 1

The search queries for “aufseßhöflein bamberg address,” “aufseßhöflein 1 bamberg,” and “aufseßhöflein directions” show that practical orientation is almost as important to many visitors as the event itself. The official contact address is Aufseßhöflein 1, 96052 Bamberg. The estate is located in the northern district of Bamberg, somewhat away from the densely built city center, yet clearly within the Bamberg city area. The directions are precisely described on the website: From Coburger Straße, you go over the level crossing, then follow the path for about 450 meters until you arrive directly at Aufseßhöflein. This direct route is helpful because you do not wander through a vast area but rather arrive at the house relatively directly. Nevertheless, one should take the parking situation seriously. There are only limited parking spaces in front of Aufseßhöflein, and the operators explicitly request that visitors park on Coburger Straße and not occupy residents' parking spaces. For weddings, concerts, and other events, this is an important note, as especially at smaller, privately run venues, a few parking spaces can quickly become scarce. Those who want to arrive relaxed should plan a little more time, coordinate their arrival calmly, and, if necessary, also consider carpooling or taxis. ([aufsesshoeflein.de](https://www.aufsesshoeflein.de/Kontakt.html?utm_source=openai))

The location in the northern district not only influences the approach but also the perception of the place. Aufseßhöflein appears secluded enough to maintain a special, almost hidden character, yet is well-located within Bamberg. This contrast makes the journey part of the experience: You leave the familiar urban movement, follow Coburger Straße, cross the level crossing, and finally reach a historic estate nestled between nature, the outskirts, and listed substance. For visitors, it is advisable to adopt the official address for navigation systems exactly, namely Aufseßhöflein 1, 96052 Bamberg, and not just search for the name of the palace. This is particularly important for guests coming from outside who only know the name of the event. Those using a vehicle should also respect the operators' notes, as the limited parking spaces and consideration for residents are not just formalities but part of the functioning concept of this private event venue. This way, arriving remains pleasant, and the special atmosphere of the house is not disturbed by unnecessary parking stress before entering. Concerts and Chamber Music at Aufseßhöflein

In addition to weddings, music is one of the most important search topics surrounding Aufseßhöflein. The official website explicitly names the house as a venue for concerts and events, and the events section shows that this claim is not just a general image statement but is actively lived. For 2026, a concert with Annalena Storch is scheduled for April 18, 2026, as well as the series “Chamber Music at Aufseßhöflein” from March to December 2026. Especially for the keyword “chamber music at aufseßhöflein,” this is a strong signal: The house is not simply a decorative backdrop but an acoustically and atmospherically utilized setting for intricate music formats. The official event page describes the concerts in an intimate, historical atmosphere where harp, singing, or chamber music ensembles come into their own particularly well. For Annalena Storch, emotional depth, instrumental virtuosity, and a touching, decelerating listening experience are mentioned. This fits very well with a place that does not focus on loudness but on closeness and resonance. If one understands Aufseßhöflein as a concert venue, it is not as a classical large stage but rather as a fine, personal sound room with historical character. ([aufsesshoeflein.de](https://www.aufsesshoeflein.de/Veranstaltungen.html))

The chamber music series also makes clear what profile the venue has. Programs are planned with piano trios from the late Romantic period, baroque music for soprano, strings, and harpsichord, cheerful and reflective autumn music, as well as a closing format featuring works by Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann, and Johannes Brahms. Just these themes show that Aufseßhöflein is particularly well-suited for music that requires closeness, clarity, and colorfulness. Tickets are only available in advance due to the limited number of seats, which further emphasizes the exclusive character. The official website states a price range for the concert series of 28 euros, reduced 18 euros, as well as a subscription for 100 euros; for Annalena Storch, advance sale and box office prices are listed. For visitors searching for “aufseßhöflein concert” or “aufseßhöflein photos,” this is important: The music events not only provide a program but also images and moods that convince both online and on-site. Aufseßhöflein thus connects culture and space in a way that feels deliberately small, careful, and high-quality. ([aufsesshoeflein.de](https://www.aufsesshoeflein.de/Veranstaltungen.html))

History of the Baroque Pleasure Palace

The history of Aufseßhöflein is one of the reasons why it is interesting beyond the circle of pure event venues. According to official history, Philipp Friedrich von Aufseß began the construction of the pleasure palace in 1723. The princely architect Johann Dientzenhofer is mentioned as a possible builder, and seven years later, the building along with gardens was completed. This early phase explains the special status of the place to this day: Aufseßhöflein was intended as a summer and recreational site, a venue for festivities, hunting, and representative leisure. Later, there was further expansion when, in 1752, the hall was designed in Rococo style by Dominikus Ecker based on designs by Johann Jakob Michael Küchel. This gave the house an art-historical value that goes far beyond its external appearance. The official historical account also shows the path to decline: As early as around 1760, the palace was no longer used as a pleasure palace, halls were closed, ownership was leased, and inventory was sold. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the use changed multiple times, and the estate increasingly came under pressure. This eventful history makes the later comeback all the more remarkable. Aufseßhöflein is not only beautiful today because it has been beautifully restored, but because its history visibly carries the traces of splendor, decline, and rescue. ([aufsesshoeflein.de](https://www.aufsesshoeflein.de/Geschichte.html))

Those who engage with “castle aufseßhöflein” therefore encounter not just a pretty facade scene but a genuine monument story. The official chronicle describes how the building regained a future after decades of decay and difficult years in the 20th century. Particularly important is that Aufseßhöflein was not preserved by chance, but through long-standing disputes, dissenting voices, monument protection issues, and ultimately private initiative. Already in the period after the Second World War, the building was discussed by monument preservation, and the later rescue is linked to the commitment of individual persons and sponsors. This mixture of baroque origins and modern will to save gives the place its depth. For visitors who expect only a beautiful photo, this may initially be a surprising additional layer. However, for people interested in architecture, Franconian history, or the culture of historical villas and palaces, it is central. Aufseßhöflein tells of representation, of possession and loss, of craftsmanship quality, and of the question of how a listed building can continue to live meaningfully in our time. ([aufsesshoeflein.de](https://www.aufsesshoeflein.de/Geschichte.html))

Restoration Since 2011 and Current Use

The modern chapter of Aufseßhöflein's history begins with remarkable private commitment. Stefan and Andrea Fiedler acquired the palace in 2011 and renovated it until 2015 with a great deal of personal effort. The official history describes that they had already restored several old houses and approached this task with remarkable perseverance. They were supported by various entities, including the German Foundation for Monument Protection, the Upper Franconia Foundation, the Bavarian E-Fund, the Federal Republic of Germany, and the city of Bamberg. A total of 1.7 million euros were needed for the restoration. This figure makes it clear that it was not a cosmetic renovation but a genuine rescue of the building. The description of the work is very vivid: Cracks in the facade, damage to the roof structure, losses in the stucco decoration, missing floors, doors, and windows had to be monumentally secured, supplemented, and restored. From remnants of baroque substance, the Franconian parquet for the cabinets was reconstructed, among other things. For today's use, this means that visitors do not only see a nicely arranged backdrop but a historically structured building that has been saved with high craftsmanship. ([aufsesshoeflein.de](https://www.aufsesshoeflein.de/Geschichte.html))

The current use is deliberately clearly limited. The homepage of the house states that Aufseßhöflein is only open during specific events. This decision is practically sensible and atmospherically clever, as it protects the object from overuse and makes the visit something special. For the public, this means: One comes specifically, usually for a wedding, a concert, or a special appointment. This is complemented by the holiday apartment in the garden house, which extends the nature-embedded palace ambiance and offers guests an additional place to stay. In combination with the historical backdrop, this creates a usage concept that connects monument protection, private home, cultural venue, and intimate event location. This is an important SEO aspect, as search queries like “aufseßhöflein photos,” “aufseßhöflein bamberg,” or “castle aufseßhöflein” often also carry an emotional expectation: People are not only looking for a place but a feeling. This feeling is created here through the connection of architectural history, family care, and clear, high-quality use. ([aufsesshoeflein.de](https://www.aufsesshoeflein.de/))

Photos, Impressions, and the Special Atmosphere

Those searching for “aufseßhöflein photos” usually want one thing above all: a visual impression of how the house appears. The official website helps with an area for impressions and several photo series that show the character of the estate. Even the wording on the homepage makes it clear that this is not just an event space but a “beautiful pleasure palace” presented in new splendor. The atmosphere is described as nature-connected, historical, and very personal. Particularly interesting is the combination of baroque architecture and the understated, private setting. Aufseßhöflein does not appear monumental in the sense of a large residence palace but rather like a carefully maintained gem that impresses with fine proportions, historical patina, and loving restoration. This is exactly what makes photos of this place so desirable: They show not just a building but a space of mood. Additionally, the house, according to its own website, is also used for civil weddings and concerts, so images always tell architecture, event, and emotion at the same time. The visual language of the house fits particularly well with romantic, cultural, and festive occasions. ([aufsesshoeflein.de](https://www.aufsesshoeflein.de/))

The surroundings also contribute to the perception. Aufseßhöflein is located in the northern district of Bamberg and is embedded in nature; the website explicitly speaks of a palace ambiance that can be enjoyed in the holiday apartment in the garden house. This is interesting for seekers looking for a place with tranquility and character rather than a loud urban event space. The photos on the website convey exactly this impression of retreat and elegance. They make it clear why the house is so popular for weddings and why concerts have a special appeal here: The audience does not sit in an anonymous hall but in a historic, almost intimate space where closeness and concentration arise. For SEO planning, this is a strong signal, as visual and emotional search terms often occur together. Those interested in photos usually also search for wedding, registry office, concert, or address. Therefore, it makes sense to always describe Aufseßhöflein as a complete experience: as a monument, as an event venue, and as a photographic motif. This mixture makes the place attractive in the digital environment and ensures that it stands out in search results not only factually but also emotionally. ([aufsesshoeflein.de](https://www.aufsesshoeflein.de/))

Seating, Accessibility, and Practical Notes

In addition to atmosphere and history, practical details also count at Aufseßhöflein. The garden hall has 40 seats, which keeps the setting deliberately small and exclusive. The official wedding venue page also points out that access to the garden hall is not barrier-free. Those arriving with limited mobility should therefore consider this in advance and check the conditions carefully. For weddings and other events, it is also important that while champagne receptions are possible on the extensive estate, the details must be coordinated with the Fiedler family. The conclusion of a usage contract is required, which is reasonable for a privately run, listed object. These framework conditions are not intended as a hurdle but as part of a careful use that protects the house and makes it individually planable. For visitors, this means: Those who book Aufseßhöflein do not receive mass processing but a clearly regulated, personal contact. This is exactly why the place feels so authentic. ([traukalender.bamberg.de](https://traukalender.bamberg.de/de/Gartensaal-im-Aufsesshoeflein-53.html))

Another practical point is the opening logic. Aufseßhöflein is only open during specific events. So if you want to stop by spontaneously, you should not expect regular visitor openings. Instead, the appointment framework is crucial, whether for a wedding, a concert, or another event. For concert guests, the limited number of seats is also relevant, as tickets are often only available in advance. This is especially true for the chamber music series, which musically shapes the venue each year. Therefore, those searching for “aufseßhöflein concert” or “chamber music at aufseßhöflein” should pay attention not only to the program but also to ticket organization and limited capacity. Overall, the house is characterized by a very clear character: historically strong, spatially intimate, organizationally personal, and practically oriented more towards smaller, special occasions. These features make Aufseßhöflein so attractive for weddings, concerts, and culture-interested visitors. It is a place where details matter, and that is precisely why it works so well as a search target for people looking for an extraordinary setting in Bamberg.

We were privileged to celebrate our civil wedding at the beautiful Aufseßhöflein and are absolutely thrilled! The registry office branch, privately owned by the Fiedler family, was the perfect location for our special day. The owners are incredibly friendly, accommodating, and helpful. Coordination beforehand was completely straightforward. We received prompt responses to every inquiry. We would especially like to highlight the loving and tasteful decoration of the wedding hall, which created a wonderful atmosphere. Everything was truly perfect for us. A clear recommendation for anyone looking to get married in a special setting!

A location straight out of a fairytale! We had our civil wedding here, and we couldn't have imagined a more beautiful place. Coordinating with Mr. Fiedler was very easy and relaxed. He always responded quickly and thoroughly. The day before the ceremony, he even showed us the Aufseßhöflein in detail and told us a bit about its history. On the day of the ceremony, the hall was beautifully decorated, and tables and chairs were set up in the driveway, which looked dreamy under the large oak tree. We also had the best registrar and can highly recommend the Aufseßhöflein as a location!

I hate to write bad reviews, but this is my honest opinion and experience of this truly beautiful venue. I felt like I was being rushed through a mass procession at a wedding on a weekday in autumn. We wanted to take photos after the ceremony and were literally kicked out along with the entire party. Our bags were simply packed by the organizer/owner himself so that we would leave as quickly as possible. The tone was beyond unfriendly. As I said, a great location that certainly makes a lot of money per wedding, which is why they cram as many as possible into one day. I would definitely not recommend the Aufseßhöflein, as the staff are extremely aloof and unfriendly.
