Discover Bamberg's Masterpieces in 25 Minutes
The Bamberg Cathedral opens a view of two outstanding works of European art history. During the public tour Cathedral Brief & Concise on October 21, 2026, you will experience a focused city tour of the most significant treasures of this historic house of God.
The Mysterious Bamberg Rider
At the center is the Bamberg Rider, one of the most famous equestrian statues of the Middle Ages. The stone figure has fascinated for centuries with its upright posture, penetrating gaze, and identity that remains unresolved to this day. During the tour, the artwork serves as a starting point for insights into medieval imagery, power, and religious concepts.
The Imperial Tomb of Henry II and Cunigunde
A second highlight is the imperial tomb of the canonized rulers Henry II and Cunigunde. The tomb created by Tilman Riemenschneider impresses with finely crafted representations and five scenes from the lives of the two founders. Stone here becomes a narrative medium for power, faith, connection, and human suffering.
Short Tour, Intense Impressions
In just 25 minutes, the knowledgeable guide combines local history, sacred architecture, and cultural heritage. The compact cathedral tour is particularly suitable for visitors who want to discover Bamberg between other sights or integrate an intense art-historical impulse into their city tour. The venue is located in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage City and offers an impressive atmosphere for cultural enrichment.
