When great spirits meet music and stage magic
On November 15, 2026, a haunted house full of literary friction, musical energy, and dark humor will open at the E.T.A. Hoffmann Theatre Bamberg. The ETA Show Great Spirits brings together E.T.A. Hoffmann, Heinrich von Kleist, Mozart, and Donna Anna in an unusual community of the undead.
A literary shared apartment with ghostly temperament
For centuries, E.T.A. Hoffmann and Heinrich von Kleist have been getting on each other’s nerves in this stage cosmos. Mozart inserts himself into the proceedings as Donna Anna from Don Giovanni continues to haunt the legendary VIP box No. 23. The dramaturgy connects historical figures, literary motifs, and the unique history of the house for an imaginative theater evening.
Burnout, ghosts, and the search for understanding
Into this involuntary community bursts the washed-up show host ETA. After a burnout, he makes himself at home with the great spirits and finally tips the already tense household balance. From initial hostility, an unexpected commonality gradually emerges: the living and the dead share the desire to be understood.
Music as a language between worlds
Daniel Seniuk's direction relies on a humorous-musical form in which acting, music, and theater history intertwine. The music becomes the dramaturgical key, connecting the characters across time, death, and artistic vanity. The set design and costumes by Anna Siegrot create the atmospheric framework for a stage experience between haunting, show, and literary fantasy.
An evening for curious theatergoers
With Hennie Gerdes, Avi Meyer, Laura Röseler, Daniel Seniuk, Stephan Ullrich, Luke Venatier, and Daniel Warland, the production gathers a versatile ensemble. The ETA Show highlights the cultural spirits of the place and even transforms the E.T.A. Hoffmann Theatre itself into a character of the evening. A lively mix of theater, music, literature, and comedic performance awaits the audience.
Those who want to experience the history of the house from a surprising perspective will find in Great Spirits an evening full of stage atmosphere, musical scenes, and theatrical encounters. Secure your tickets and experience the ghosts of Bamberg live in the theater.
