Minotaur in Bamberg: An icy psychodrama about power and moral boundaries
On November 5, 2026, Lichtspiel & Odeon in Bamberg will screen Minotaur, a dark, Cannes-awarded thriller. The film tells the story of a successful entrepreneur whose ordered life falls apart due to political pressure, professional responsibilities, and personal betrayal.
When control becomes an illusion
Gleb runs a successful company and seems to have his life under control. However, the situation deteriorates when his company is supposed to supply personnel for the war. At the same time, he discovers that his wife, Galina, is cheating on him. Amidst a professional crisis, political threats, and personal disappointment, the pressure grows uncontrollably.
Dark cinematic art with an oppressive atmosphere
Minotaur builds its tension not through simple shock effects, but through the gradual unraveling of a seemingly stable existence. The event is aimed at cinema fans who appreciate demanding cinematic art, psychological dramas, and socially relevant subjects. An intense event atmosphere, focused audience mood, and the large screen enhance the oppressive event experience.
A film between politics, marriage, and moral responsibility
Director Andrey Zvyagintsev, known for Leviathan and Loveless, connects private conflicts with the effects of political instability in this drama. The film questions how long a person can hold on to their principles when professional duties, personal fears, and external pressures collide.
