Karel Štědrýs HOME: Geometric Color Worlds in Villa Concordia
On Sunday, November 1, 2026, the exhibition HOME by the Czech artist Karel Štědrý will open at the International Artists' House Villa Concordia. From 11 a.m., visitors will encounter a color-intensive imagery where geometric shapes, pop cultural impulses, architectural thinking, and digital image processing merge into an independent contemporary painting.
Color, Shape, and a New Visual Order
Karel Štědrý is counted among the prominent representatives of the younger Czech art scene. His painting combines geometric abstraction with a playful, almost plastic visual language. Pop colors, clear contours, and interlocking shapes create compositions that give the impression of stepping out of the plane.
The exhibition also addresses the processing of materials by artificial intelligence. In this way, HOME opens a dynamic field between analog work examination, digital image production, and the question of how familiar ideas of home, order, and visual memory change.
Between Classical Modernism and Pop Culture
Štědrý's artistic approach is in dialogue with classical modernism, architecture, and contemporary pop culture. Influences from street art, graffiti, hip-hop, breakdancing, and computer games intersect with art historical principles of proportion, rhythm, and serial variation.
The artist studied painting at the Prague School of Art, Architecture and Design in the studio of Stanislav Diviš. His early works moved from stylized figures and dynamic breakdance scenes to an increasingly abstract and geometric language of form. In addition to painting and graphics, objects and plastic extensions of his pictorial ideas are also created.
An Art Experience in the Baroque Artists' House
The exhibition unfolds its effect in the historical ambiance of Villa Concordia. The Baroque architecture provides an appealing contrast to Štědrý's vivid colorism and precisely placed forms. In this encounter between historical spatial effect and contemporary installation, a special exhibition atmosphere arises that invites concentrated aesthetic experience.
Štědrý works from Bamberg until March 2027. The Free State of Bavaria awarded him the Villa Concordia residency scholarship for his oeuvre for 2026/27. Thus, the exhibition not only provides insights into the artist's current works but also into the creative context of an international artists' house.
Opening Hours and Visit
The opening begins on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 11 a.m. Afterwards, HOME will be open until Sunday, December 6, 2026: Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Conclusion: Contemporary Art with Vibrant Presence
HOME promises an exhibition where color, geometry, materiality, and digital transformation come together to create a sensuously experienceable visual language. Art enthusiasts will experience Karel Štědrý's characteristic connection of geometric abstraction, pop cultural energy, and architectural thinking in an extraordinary historical setting.
