Exhibition "Jewish Life in Bamberg"

The conflict-ridden coexistence with the Christian majority over the centuries, expulsions, and pogroms, as well as the deep impact of National Socialism, have led to the material and spiritual culture of the Bamberg Jews being preserved only in fragments. The exhibition seeks to make the remaining traces visible and to represent their connections in history. Scientific findings from archaeology and historical research have been prepared in a vivid manner for presentation and made accessible to a wide audience. Exhibits from all areas of life provide insight into the social and personal lives of the Jewish minority. History is made tangible, among other things, through the diary of the Jewish girl Erika Löbl, which offers a starting point for a diverse engagement with National Socialism, anti-Semitism, racism, religion, and the topics of flight and asylum from different perspectives.
