Latin Lovers: Jazz, Bossa Nova, and pointed stories in Bamberg
On Friday, October 9, 2026, the La Bohème Trio, together with singer Rebecca Kunzelmann, brings the program Latin Lovers to the cultural factory KUFA Bamberg. The start is at 8:00 PM. The evening combines Latin Jazz, musical virtuosity, and humorous social observation into an unusual concert experience.
A cliché gets rhythm
The focus is on how the image of the Latin Lover can be re-evaluated in the era of MeToo and the debate over toxic masculinity. The trio approaches the topic not with a raised finger, but with self-irony, precise timing, and stories around the music. Three experienced musicians and Rebecca Kunzelmann expose stereotypes while the range of Latin Jazz creates rhythmic tension.
From Bossa Nova to Chick Corea
Musically, the program ranges from the cool-swinging Bossa Nova to energetic Latin interpretations. Classics like So Danço Samba and Desafinado meet an own version of the lyrics, while Armando’s Rumba and Libertango receive new timbres as special marimba features. The song Sway, made famous by Dean Martin, adds additional elegance to the evening.
Marimbaphon, accordion, and a unique sound
In addition to the standard instruments of the La Bohème Trio, the orchestration is shaped by marimbaphon and accordion. The unusual instrumentation shifts familiar melodies, sets accents against the grain, and creates a multifaceted stage performance. The finale features an energetic Latin version of the jazz classic Round Midnight as well as a tango by Friedman, Cox, and Martinier.
The La Bohème Trio: Jazz as a dynamic collective
Founded in 2018, the La Bohème Trio combines swing, modern jazz, Latin, chanson, and classical influences. The focus is not on a single soloist, but on the intense synchronization of the ensemble. The musicians reinterpret familiar and less known material with a varied sound, unique arrangements, and noticeable joy of playing. Drummer, percussionist, and marimbaphonist Christoph Naucke has been part of the trio since early 2023.
Conclusion: An evening concert with groove and attitude
Visitors can expect an entertaining jazz evening with Bossa Nova lightness, tango atmosphere, pointed stories, and surprising colors of sound. Latin Lovers combines audience proximity with musical expertise and demonstrates how much energy is packed into a concert that brings together humor, attitude, and Latin Jazz. Anyone who wants to experience Bamberg live with groove and fine irony should not miss this evening at KUFA.
