David Helbock & Julia Hofer: Jazz between Piano Sound and Groove

On Saturday, October 3, 2026, the Jazzkeller Bamberg transforms into a resonance space for an extraordinary duo: David Helbock and Julia Hofer combine virtuosic piano, electric bass, and cello for an evening full of dynamism, depth, and surprising sound colors.

When Piano and Strings Breathe Together

David Helbock is one of the prominent Austrian jazz pianists of his generation. His music thrives on precise orchestration, rhythmic agility, and a stage performance that blends classical sound ideas with modern jazz impulses. Multiple awards at the renowned Jazz Piano Solo Competition in Montreux underline his outstanding virtuosity and creative signature.

Julia Hofer Brings the Groove into Motion

Joining him is Julia Hofer, a versatile musician from Vienna. The electric bassist and cellist smoothly transitions between warm, melodic cello lines and striking bass impulses. Her videos for Thomann have reached a large audience on YouTube among bass fans. In the duo with Helbock, she opens up jazz to a colorful interplay of resonance, rhythm, and electric energy.

Calm Original Compositions Meet Pulsating Grooves

The program ranges from quiet, atmospheric original compositions to groovy pieces with a clearly felt forward drive. Creative effects expand the soundscape, while the dynamic switch between piano, cello, and electric bass continually reveals new perspectives. At times, the sound floats almost chamber-music-like through the space, and at other times, it condenses into a rhythmic pull.

Jazzkeller Bamberg as an Ideal Concert Venue

The intimate atmosphere of the Jazzkeller creates short distances between the stage and the audience. Every note, every string vibration, and every rhythmic shift remains immediately perceivable. It is precisely in this closeness that the concert experience unfolds its special effect: The audience's mood emerges from quiet nuances, spontaneous synchronization, and powerful musical turns.

Conclusion: An Evening for Curious Jazz Ears

David Helbock and Julia Hofer promise a concert that does not understand virtuosity as an end in itself but translates it into lively sound stories. Anyone who wants to experience modern piano, expressive string instruments, and an intense live atmosphere should not miss this evening at the Jazzkeller Bamberg.
