Uğurcan Öztekin brings new sound worlds to Bamberg
On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the International Artist House Villa Concordia invites you to a special composer portrait with Uğurcan Öztekin. The Istanbul-based composer presents the results of his Villa Concordia residency and connects contemporary music with the impressions of his time in Bamberg.
New music between Istanbul and Bamberg
Öztekin has already written works for Barcelona, Amsterdam, Istanbul, and Paris, performed by various ensembles. His new work for Bamberg adds to this cycle a musical perspective on the city and its cultural atmosphere.
The composer’s body of work was awarded the Villa-Concordia residency scholarship by the Free State of Bavaria in 2025. For the concert, Öztekin travels from Istanbul and presents the results of his artistic work directly at the place of origin.
Flute sounds with characteristic coloring
The focus is on new works for flute and recorder. Elena Gabbrielli on flute and Caroline Mayrhofer on recorder shape the performance with precise synchronization, differentiated sound, and a fine sense for modern timbres. The combination of both instruments opens a multifaceted spectrum between breath, resonance, and contemporary orchestration.
Introduction with Nora-Eugenie Gomringer
An introduction by Nora-Eugenie Gomringer accompanies the concert and provides access to the musical ideas behind the new compositions. Thus, the concert becomes not only a performance but also a concentrated encounter with current music and its creation.
Conclusion: Contemporary music in a historic artist house
The composer portrait promises an intense concert experience with new works, extraordinary flute sounds, and immediate insights into the work of an outstanding composer. Those who want to experience contemporary music live and feel the unique dialogue between artist, place, and audience will find a fitting evening at Villa Concordia. Admission is free.
