75 Years of Don Bosco Musicians: Bohemian-Moravian Brass Music in the Abtenberghalle
A round anniversary, two strong formations, and an evening full of Bohemian-Moravian brass music: On Saturday, November 14, 2026, the Don Bosco Musicians Bamberg will celebrate their 75th anniversary in the Abtenberghalle Rattelsdorf. As a musical guest, the top formation Bohemian Brass will provide additional sound colors and festive energy.
Tradition with a Fresh Sound
Since their founding in 1951, the Don Bosco Musicians have developed from a student and apprentice band into a nationally recognized brass orchestra. Their repertoire combines classic Bohemian melodies, Moravian sound traditions, modern arrangements, and Franconian folk music. The formation has won the European Championship title in Bohemian-Moravian brass music multiple times, making it one of the renowned ensembles in its genre.
An Evening of Polkas, Solos, and Great Classics
The anniversary autumn festival encompasses the full stylistic breadth of brass music. Audience and musicians can expect a program with contemporary arrangements, characterful solo pieces, and real classics. Precise synchronization, warm brass colors, and the typical rhythmic tension of polkas and marches combine with the playful joy of two experienced formations.
Bohemian Brass as Musical Guest
With Bohemian Brass, a guest ensemble will come to Rattelsdorf, enriching the concert evening with another perspective on Bohemian-Moravian brass music. Alternating with the Don Bosco Musicians, a varied arc of tension will be created, ranging from fine melodies to powerful tutti passages.
Conducting, Orchestration, and True Audience Engagement
The musical director Kornel Hetterich has rehearsed a high-quality program, including compositions of his own. His conducting unites the registers into a clear, sustainable sound: flugelhorns and tenor horns give warmth to the melodies, while trumpets, trombones, and deep brass provide brilliance and pressure. Added to this is a live atmosphere that emerges directly between the stage and the hall at an autumn festival of this kind.
A Social Concert Evening for Brass Music Fans
The doors open at 6:00 PM, and the concert starts at 7:00 PM. Refreshments will be provided. Tickets are available through Eventfrog, in advance sales from musicians, at the Brücken-Apotheke in Bamberg, at Dumsky Stationery in Rattelsdorf, and at the box office on the evening of the event.
Conclusion: An Anniversary that Resonates
The anniversary autumn festival of the Don Bosco Musicians combines club history, musical excellence, and a sociable concert atmosphere. Anyone who wants to experience Bohemian-Moravian brass music with strong melodies, virtuosic solos, and festive sound live should mark this evening in the Abtenberghalle Rattelsdorf.
