Amelio Trio brings electrifying chamber music to Bamberg
On Thursday, October 15, 2026, the Amelio Trio will perform in the Joseph-Keilberth-Saal of the Concert Hall Bamberg. Johanna Schubert on violin, Merle Geißler on cello, and Philipp Kirchner on piano will present the second concert of the 2026/27 season of the Bamberg Music Association.
An evening concert between Haydn, Beethoven, Turina, and Brahms
The program navigates through different sound worlds of the piano trio literature. Joseph Haydn's Piano Trio in F major opens the evening with classical clarity and fine dialogic elegance. Ludwig van Beethoven's C minor Trio op. 1 No. 3 brings dramatic energy and pointed contrasts to the concert atmosphere.
With Joaquín Turina's Circulo op. 91, the program opens up to colorful, rhythmically dynamic sound images. Johannes Brahms' Piano Trio No. 3 in C minor op. 101 ultimately leads into a musical world of great emotional density, orchestral impact, and chamber music precision.
Dreamlike interplay and alert reaction
The Amelio Trio connects violin, cello, and piano into an exceptionally breathing sound body. Each voice has its own personality, while the three musicians react to each other with acute awareness. The Süddeutsche Zeitung described this quality as an electrifying interpretation, keeping the audience attentive every second.
The ensemble was founded in 2012 when Johanna Schubert, Merle Geißler, and Philipp Kirchner were just 13 years old. From this early connection developed a tightly synchronized ensemble with stylistic diversity, clear articulation, and unmistakable musical energy.
From competition success to international concert career
Among the important milestones of the young piano trio is the second prize at the ARD Music Competition 2023. For the 2026/27 season, the Amelio Trio has been selected as an ECHO Rising Star. This includes debuts at the Vienna Music Association and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
In September 2025, the debut CD Time in Flux was released by GENUIN, featuring works by Charles Ives, Ludwig van Beethoven, Mieczysław Weinberg?, Mamlok, Johannes Brahms, and Bertelsmeier. A second CD is scheduled for autumn 2026 with the label Hänssler Classic.
Live atmosphere in the Joseph-Keilberth-Saal
The Joseph-Keilberth-Saal provides the concentrated setting for an intense chamber music experience. The focus is on the direct communication of the three instruments, the fine transitions between leading and accompanying, as well as the dynamic balance between cantabile string sound and sonorous piano work.
Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the concert starts at 7:30 PM. The concert and congress hall and the box office open one hour before the concert begins; the hall will open 30 minutes prior to the start.
Conclusion: A chamber music evening with international format
The Amelio Trio represents musical connection, technical sovereignty, and a stage performance full of tension. Those who want to experience Haydn, Beethoven, Turina, and Brahms in a lively dialogue will find a concert in Bamberg on October 15, 2026, with special chamber music intensity. Secure your place and experience the Amelio Trio live in the Joseph-Keilberth-Saal.
