Accordion in all its facets: Sound diversity in the Spiegelsaal of Bamberg
On Saturday, November 14, 2026, Bamberg invites you to a special community concert: The accordion classes of the Bamberg District Music School and the Bamberg Municipal Music School present the accordion as the Instrument of the Year 2026. It begins at 5:00 PM in the Spiegelsaal of the Harmonie at Schillerplatz.
From small ensemble to large accordion orchestra
The program takes you through the versatile sound world of the accordion. Small formations meet orchestral richness, finely tuned register colors intersect with powerful ensemble passages. Under the direction of Evelyn Borchard and Oksana Reiter, a concert evening emerges that combines musical precision with lively stage performance.
An instrument between classical, tango, and swing
More than 30 accordionists shape the evening together with the Hersbruck Accordion Orchestra. The program includes arrangements of works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Claude Debussy, and Béla Bartók, as well as Astor Piazzolla's tango Melodía en la menor, Karl Jenkins' Palladio, and swing and pop arrangements of Just a Gigolo and Fields of Gold.
Musical encounter of several generations
Beginners from the first years of lessons play alongside experienced players who have been active in the ensemble for many years. This connection makes the concert evening special: The audience experiences development, joy of playing, and communal music-making in an immediate live atmosphere.
Free admission – Donations welcome
Admission to the concert is free. At the end of the event, the participating music schools welcome donations. This way, the audience supports musical educational work and community ensemble projects in Bamberg.
The concert connects lessons, orchestral work, and musical discovery into a varied concert experience. Those who want to experience the accordion in its full range should enjoy this evening live in the Spiegelsaal of the Harmonie.
